What is Professional Teeth Whitening?

Teeth whitening is a safe and affordable way to enhance your smile. Our teeth whitening services aim to give you the confidence to smile again. Your mouth will be healthier and brighter with your self-esteem at its best.

The colour of your teeth can be improved by professional cleaning, but the most dramatic results come from whitening. This is where a whitening agent, usually hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide, is applied directly to the enamel of the teeth to lift the shade. The oxidizing gel used to brighten the shade of the tooth penetrates teeth enamel and oxidizes stain deposits. Teeth whitening can help achieve quick results, which will boost your self-esteem. It’s important to remember that you have to maintain these results to keep your smile sparkly white. Continue to brush your teeth daily and floss to take extra care and remove all plaque. It would help if you kept your routine dental checks to maintain a healthy, white smile.

Professional teeth whitening is one of the safest cosmetic dental procedures available. A whiter, brighter smile makes you feel good, boosts your self-confidence and makes a memorable impression. As we age, adult teeth become stained with tea, coffee, foodstuff, red wine, and tobacco. Teeth whitening products are, however, not recommended for children under the age of thirteen, lactating and pregnant mothers.

Indications for Teeth Whitening

If you find yourself hiding your teeth when smiling, laughing, meeting new people, or during photo sessions: you should probably think of whitening your teeth.

Professional teeth whitening helps improve your teeth that have begun appearing dull, yellowish, greyish or any staining or discoloration you may be struggling with. Teeth whitening may also be right for you if you have:

  • Aging teeth
  • Dietary and smoke stains
  • Tetracycline staining
  • Dental fluorosis
  • In case there have been changes inside your teeth, such as root canal treatment or death of the nerve.

Contraindications for Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening may not be suitable for you if you have:

  • Decayed teeth, infections beneath your teeth or gum disease
  • Breastfeeding of pregnant
  • Tooth sensitivity, exposed dentine, or cracks – these can be appropriate for teeth whitening procedures once treated
  • Existing large fillings or crowns in the smile zone
  • You are in the later stage of life and have visible yellow roots and gum shrinkage
What are the Benefits of Professional Teeth Whitening?

Safe – most people decide to pursue teeth whitening because they want to improve the appearance of their teeth. However, an essential benefit of having your teeth whitened by a qualified dental practitioner is that the procedure will be safe. We have the knowledge, experience, and skill to give you the right advice at consultation and use only the techniques that your teeth can comfortably handle.

Enhance your teeth appearance – teeth whitening is a safe and affordable way to enhance your image. Our teeth whitening services aim to give you the confidence to smile again. Your mouth will be healthier and brighter with your self-esteem at its best.

Boost self-esteem – teeth whitening can help achieve results which will boost your self-esteem. It’s important to remember that you have to maintain these results to keep your smile sparkly white. Continue to brush your teeth daily and floss to take extra care and remove all plaque. It would help if you kept your routine dental checks to maintain a healthy, white smile.

Speed and results – you want it fast? Professional teeth whitening can give you brighter, whiter teeth in about one hour. That’s it. You don’t require a series of sessions like in other methods. Plus, the results are reliable, and teeth whitening is long-lasting with proper maintenance. Several over-the-counter teeth whitening solutions fail to whiten your teeth no matter how often you use them. You deserve the best, and nobody wants to waste money and time on products that will not deliver great results.

Improved oral health – once you have spent your money and time on teeth whitening, you are more likely to take care of your teeth to maintain their appearance. Regular dental check-ups, flossing, and brushing will help keep the teeth white and improve your oral health.

Customized treatments – with over-the-counter treatments, there is no versatility – are a one-size-fits-all approach. You can’t customize the treatment to suit their teeth whitening preference. With professional teeth whitening, you can be sure of customized treatment that gives you the exact amount of whiteness you want and in areas that need it most.

Our Take-Home Teeth Whitening Kit

We offer professional take-home whitening kits that can assist you in achieving a beautiful bright smile by removing teeth discoloration and stubborn stains. We use custom-made trays to make sure the whitening solution is correctly distributed. Without custom-made trays, most of the whitening solution could be wasted or put onto parts of the mouth that may be damaged.

We will take your bite impressions during your first consultation using non-toxic dental putty. The impressions are used to make your custom trays. This process takes between one and two weeks. The second appointment will happen when the trays are ready. At the second appointment, we will give you detailed instructions on using your whitening kit.

Before beginning whitening procedure at home, you would need to floss, brush and rinse. This routine is usually performed in about one hour per day for about two weeks. Trays should be removed when eating, drinking and smoking.

Are There Any Side Effects of Professional Teeth Whitening?

Although professional teeth whitening is considered safe, your teeth sensitivity may increase following treatment. However, this does not last long.

Does Professional Teeth Whitening Hurt?

We will always do our best to ensure that the procedure is as pain-free as possible. When you have a consultation at our practice, we will assess the current condition of your mouth, ask you questions about existing sensitivity, and perform a health check of your gums. While the process itself should not hurt, you may experience some sensitivity afterwards. We will advise how to take care of your teeth after they have been whitened to help you avoid extra sensitivity.

Can’t I Just Whiten My Teeth with Products I Buy from the Market?

There are countless home teeth whitening kits on the market, with seemingly spectacular claims about amazing results at a reduced price. The truth is that home kits will never deliver the quality of result you’ll achieve by having this procedure done professionally. If used incorrectly, home kits can cause damage to the teeth and chemical burns. More importantly, it’s not as safe. That’s why it’s important to come and see us. We will be happy to give you the smile you deserve!

The over-the-counter products work but not to the extent of teeth whitening overseen by a dentist. Furthermore, most teeth whitening products available in stores are not customized and may not fit everyone; hence not safe. They can lead to loose teeth, and the solution may leak, causing gum irritation. Professional teeth whitening is the most effective and safest teeth whitening method. If teeth whitening is done correctly, it can last for several years. That’s a couple of years of bright, beautiful and confident laughs and smiles.
